Occasionally, illnesses and health conditions could affect sleep
patterns. That is for sleep mental disorders happen in a large part
for health sicknesses and harmful forms of treatment. Conditions like
renal disorder, nervous disorders, thyroid ailment, cardiovascular
ailment, pyrosis, diabetes, eating conditions, etc. Could affect sleep
and induce major troubles. That post will tell you how sicknesses and

Pyrosis, which is induced by abdomen acid in the oesophagus, could be
aggravated by lying down. That leads to irritation when you sleep. You

  1. Thank you for addressing an issue which should be obvious, but unfortunately is not - that health can affect sleep. I wish all the world's physicians (especially the psychiatric types who usually are the first to see patients with sleep issues) were more cognizant of this fact, and thus more apt to investigate.

    And of course, since health affects sleep, and sleep affects health, it can become a vicious cycle.

    Simply Googling "medical causes of sleep and mental symptoms" brings up plenty of useful information - especially the idea that the abnormal sleep itself can be a cause of resulting mental symptoms (as in http://itsnotmental.blogspot.com/2009/03/abnormal-sleep-as-cause-of-mental.html)
